We’re happy you’re here.

The job search is daunting, we get it. Whether you’re just starting out, a seasoned professional or somewhere in between, we’re happy you’re here.

At Highland Bank, we pride ourselves on our outstanding employees and value each member as an integral part of the team. We provide the resources and training to help our employees succeed while placing heavy emphasis on support, recognition, open communication, skills development and professional growth opportunities.

At Highland Bank, our exceptional service comes from the inside. We strive to foster a work environment that places the same value on our employees as we do on our customers. We value employees as an essential part of our team, with a focus on commitment, communication, competency and accountability.

As a member of an interdependent community, we believe that people and corporations are responsible for finding ways to improve the communities where they live and do business. That’s why we established our Community Involvement Program. Our mission: To strengthen our community by reciprocating the support given to our bank in the form of employee time, talent and donations. Our goal is to work as a one-bank team, showing mutual respect for each other and collaborating to find solutions that meet the needs of our customers and our community.

Enough about who we are. What are we looking for in potential employees?

We seek individuals who are:

  • Mission-Driven. Ready and able to uphold Highland Bank’s values of integrity, employee satisfaction, excellence and accountability.
  • Ethical. You possess a strong ethical code that supports our mission. Each decision made at Highland Bank is based on the most ethical path forward.
  • Self-Motivated. You’re both a standout solo performer and a team player, wherever applicable and appropriate.
  • Respectful. All employees and positions are valued, from entry level to the CEO.
  • Passionate about Customer Service. You channel that passion to ensure our customers have the best/right banking products for their circumstances.
  • Emotionally Intelligent. You’re empathetic and sensitive to the emotions of those around you.
  • Community-Driven. You want to serve and increase value in your local communities.
  • Seeking a Meaningful Career. Whether you’re seeking a career in banking or a non-banking position, every role at Highland Bank works in part to better the lives of those we serve.
  • Interested in Development. You want to grow, whether that means enhancing your existing skillset or expanding into a new role.

We understand the importance of growth and continual learning in today’s job market. In addition to tuition reimbursement—one of our favorite benefits—we encourage training and development opportunities wherever employees can find them. Professional development is supported through the Minnesota Bankers Association (MBA), other banking-related organizations, and industry-specific resources for non-banking roles.

Growth at Highland Bank goes beyond formal training. Through our mentorship program, employees can learn directly from experienced team members across the organization—gaining insight, guidance, and exposure to different paths within the bank. Mentorship isn’t limited to banking roles; it’s an opportunity to explore and learn about other areas of the business, build confidence, and develop skills that support long-term career growth.

We also highly encourage community involvement beyond volunteering. Many of our employees serve on nonprofit boards, city councils, and other community organizations, providing opportunities for leadership development and personal growth outside the workplace.

From the top down, we want employees to grow and thrive at Highland Bank. To support that, we offer ongoing opportunities to job shadow, connect with mentors, and explore potential career paths—helping employees shape a future that aligns with their interests, strengths, and goals.

    Sue Lee

    Chief Operations Officer

Joining Highland Bank as part of an acquisition in 2008, I was nervous but excited about the opportunities of working for a larger, family-owned organization. Working for a family-owned bank provides a more open, interactive and caring environment, which is important to me. If you want to surround yourself with people who are good at what they do, want you to succeed, care about you and your family and are creative and innovative, Highland Bank is the place for you.
